Beyond the Big Screen: Bela Padilla Meets the Negros Nine Weavers

Bela Padilla came to Bacolod for the premiere of her movie. The next day, we took her somewhere beyond the big screen: up to the mountains of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, to meet the Negros Nine Weavers.

Far from the lights of the cinema

In Kabankalan, threads carry more than colour and pattern. They carry history and tradition, and the hands and hearts of women who have kept their craft alive through generations.

That day, Bela did more than visit. She sat with the weavers. She listened. She learned. And for a moment, she became part of their story.

A block screening with a cause

Our block screening in Bacolod was more than a gathering for a film. It was our way of bringing people together for a cause: to support the Negros Nine Weavers, their livelihood, and the future of their craft.

The trip reminded us of something deeper. Supporting a community isn't only about giving. It's about showing up, listening, and making sure their stories are never forgotten.

Salamat, Bela

Thank you, Bela, for going beyond the cinema, for making time for these women, and for helping bring their stories to a wider audience. Some stories deserve more than a moment in the spotlight. They deserve to live on.

For the women and men. For the craft. For the stories worth carrying forward.
