CHICKS x Get Spotted: Collection Launch at Citadines Bacolod
· Get Spotted
Last night, September 11, 2024, we launched the CHICKS x Get Spotted collection at Fuego Bar and Lounge, Citadines Bacolod City: a sustainable fashion collaboration that brings the handwoven textiles of the Negros Nine weavers of Kabankalan into contemporary, everyday clothes.
What CHICKS stands for
CHICKS is named after the towns and cities of the 6th Congressional District of Negros Occidental: Candoni, Hinoba-an, Ilog, Cauayan, Kabankalan and Sipalay.
The collaboration is led by Negros Occidental 6th District Rep. Mercedes "Chedeng" Alvarez and Get Spotted's designer, Emgee Po-Jimenea. Its aim: to promote slow, community-driven fashion and to empower local weavers.
Woven by the Negros Nine weavers of Kabankalan
Every piece uses handmade textiles from the Negros Nine weavers of Kabankalan City, a community founded by Fr. Brian Gore. Their cloth was made into clothes with different designs and styles, made to be worn every day, not only on special occasions.

"In a world dominated by fast fashion and mass production, we believe in the power of local craftsmanship," said Rep. Alvarez. "Each piece in our collection is meticulously designed featuring the handmade textiles produced by the nine weavers from Kabankalan City."
The collection is size-inclusive, from extra small to 5XL, so everyone can wear it. Each piece is made to be comfortable and flattering on every body.
The launch

"By wearing these clothes, you are preserving culture and helping empower communities," said Emgee. Rep. Alvarez added, "Fashion can be fun while being kind to the planet. We celebrate the community and sustainability. Let's explore our collection, and experience the fashion that reflects our unique culture and people."
