Panay News: Get Spotted Takes Filipino Craft Global The Panay News page of Monday, September 29, 2025: "Bacolod Fashion Brand Nagatib-ong sang Filipino Craftsmanship sa Global Stage", with photos of Get Spotted, Emgee Po and the Negros weavers

On September 29, 2025, Panay News, the Iloilo daily, ran a full page on Get Spotted in its Life & Style section: "Bacolod Fashion Brand Nagatib-ong sang Filipino Craftsmanship sa Global Stage", or "A Bacolod fashion brand taking Filipino craftsmanship to the global stage." Here is the story in English, with our founder Emgee Po's words as she said them.

From a 2011 thesis to a Bacolod fashion brand

Get Spotted began as a hobby that became a thesis project at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod in 2011, and grew from there into a full clothing brand.

"Nag-umpisa ako baligya sang mga bayo nga nakita ko sa Manila, sa Divisoria. Amat-amat nga nagdaku ang amon negosyo, kag nakalab-ot sa Thailand, Korea kag China."

"I started by selling clothes I found in Manila, in Divisoria. Little by little our business grew, and it reached Thailand, Korea and China."

Like many businesses, the brand's growth stopped suddenly when the pandemic hit. Instead of losing hope, Emgee used it as a chance to change and grow, and that is how EMGEE by Get Spotted was born.

EMGEE: slow fashion, made in small batches

Panay News describes EMGEE by Get Spotted as a bold stand against fast fashion. The idea is simple: make clothes that last, that you keep wearing, and that outlive the trends.

Every piece is made carefully in small batches, with local tailors in Negros and Rizal.

"Ang amon mga tela tanan handwoven sang Negros Nine Weavers halin sa CHICKS area sa Negros Occidental, para ma-preserbar ang palanublion samtang ginasustenir naman ang palangabuhian."

"All our fabrics are handwoven by the Negros Nine Weavers from the CHICKS area of Negros Occidental, to preserve our heritage while supporting their livelihood."

The result: Filipiniana tops, barongs and boleros with a fresh, modern twist, finished with detailed embroidered prints inspired by the Philippines' native wildlife, local tourist spots and jeepneys and other rides. Most important of all, it is a fully local brand. See the handwoven pieces in CHICKS x Get Spotted, and meet the weavers in Bela Padilla's visit to Kabankalan.

Collaborations, and a pop-up in Paris

Get Spotted has worked with many artists and celebrities, including Bela Padilla, Rhian Ramos and Laureen Uy. The brand has also had a pop-up in Paris: read about CHICKS x Get Spotted at Ithemba, where the photos in this story were taken.

Growing the business with GCash for Business

As the brand grew, Emgee joined bazaars and events while running the main shop at Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod. GCash was already part of the journey, letting customers pay cashless. But more customers brought new day-to-day problems: long lines at the counter, staff checking phones by hand to confirm payments, personal and business money getting mixed up, and the risk of scams.

The fix, Panay News reports, was GCash SoundPay in all of Get Spotted's stores: customers scan a QR code to pay, and the device instantly announces out loud that the payment went through. No more checking phones by hand, so the team can move on to the next customer. SoundPay comes with a business account on the GCash for Business Portal, with a dashboard for sales that keeps business money apart from personal money. Emgee talked more about this on TV in NET25's Open For Business.

Made in the Philippines, worn anywhere

In the article's words, Get Spotted is just getting started. By taking Filipino creativity and craftsmanship further, the brand keeps growing while deepening its commitment to the communities it works with, making fashion that is good for your skin and your conscience, and connected to community: made in the Philippines, worn anywhere.
